Agency and Satanic Panarchism.
One of the Satanic Codes explains that freedom of others is reciprocal, and as such if people don't respect others' freedom, their own isn't respected.
But then there's the case of agency, a concept I have written out previously and will put here incase the google doc crashes:
Most people aged eighteen and above have a moral consciousness. They have a right to extend this agency unto objects that lack agency; this agency extends to other agents (people with agency) if all agents involved are involved consentually. Agents cannot force other agents to do things, nor refrain from doing things; attempting to commit force against agents will cause a suspension of agency against the aggressor. People have a negative right to objects because they have a capacity to extend their agency towards the object, but the object begins its existence with a lack of the agency. It is wrong to force agents to share objects, as the objects have agency from the agents that own them. It is wrong to violate agency as agents all have an equal agency, and thus lack the power to force their agency upon other agents.
The reason for agency is simple: what makes a person good? People would say good actions, but the problem with this is that not everyone commits good actions or bad actions. Sometimes people are simply neutral. They are not evil, they are not doing evil. But they still do not commit good actions. So if people could be seen as evil if they simply do nothing. The problem is that inaction doesn’t hurt anyone. Inaction doesn’t cause evil, actions do. Simply standing next to a murder isn’t causing a murder. People say you can do something so you are responsible, but that assumes people have that responsibility, even though people are individuals born blank slates, and as such are independent.
So what makes people ethical? Ethical beliefs, and conduct that is based on respecting ethics. This doesn’t mean you are required to help, you just don’t have to hurt. However, people with poor ethical beliefs can’t be considered ethical, because they don’t have good ethics. They shun ethical truth and try to replace it with unethical beliefs, and beliefs that are good are what make people good.
This isn’t to simply overturn actions, doing evil is still doing evil. It’s just that people can be bad for having bad beliefs.
